Amref yasisitiza uwepo wa wakunga kila kituo cha afya

Dar es Salaam. Shirika la Kimataifa la utafiti wa tiba na afya barani Afrika  (Amref) limesema litaendelea kutoa hamasa na kuhakikisha kina mama wanapata huduma bora za afya wakati wa ujauzito hadi kujifungua.

Juzi shirika hilo kwa kushirikiana na Benki ya Azania (ABL), Kupitia kampeni yake ya ‘Stand up for African Mothers’ (SU4AM) jana lilifanya matembezi ya hisani yaliyohusisha viongozi wa Serikali na wananchi ili kukusanya Sh1 bilioni zitakazosaidia upatikanaji wa wakunga katika vituo vya afya nchini.

Akizungumza katika viwanja vya Green Grounds, Oysterbay jijini hapa mara baada ya matembezi Mkurugenzi mkazi wa Amref Dk Florence Temu alisema uwepo wa wakunga wenye utaalamu katika vituo vya afya utapunguza au kuepusha vifo vinavyotokea wakati wa kujifungua.

“Wakunga ni kiungo muhimu katika  kutoa huduma stahiki za afya hasa ya uzazi wakati wa  kujifungua na baada ya kujifungua. Tunaomba na kuwasihi  wananchi  wote, mashirika, kampuni  binafsi  na  washirika  wa maendeleo,  kuendelee  kuchangia   ili  kufanikisha hili la kuokoa  maisha  ya  mama  na  mtoto katika maeneo yenye uhitaji,” alisema.

Kwa  upande  wake  Mkurugenzi  Mtendaji  wa  ABL,  Charles  Itembe  ,  alisema benki hiyo kusaidia  sekta  ya afya, hasa katika afya ya uzazi ni moja ya nguzo za msingi za sera ya uwajibikaji wa kijamii.

“Wanawake  ni  nguzo  ya maendeleo ya kijamii  na  kiuchumi, bila  ya  huduma  bora za afya na za  msingi,  wanawake  katika  nchi zinazoendelea kama Tanzania wataendelea kupotea maisha kwa vifo vya uzazi hali itakayosababisha kuzorota kwa maendeleo,” alisema Itembe.
