Empowerment and youth leadership, more inclusive and supportive societies that enhance diversity, intercultural and equity in health, territorial redevelopment, dissemination of good practices: all that characterize ” YOUTH INCLUSIONS – Strengthening social and health empowerment among young people in Rome ( San Basilio, Torpignattara) and Naples (Ponticelli, Barra, San Giovanni) through the promotion of equity, inclusion and the exchange of good practices ”.

“YOUTH INCLUSIONS” is in fact a project that aims to strengthen social and health empowerment among young people in Rome and Naples through the promotion of equity, inclusion and the exchange of good practices.

The project intends to “rebuild social, educational and health inclusion”, recovering physical, cognitive and emotional spaces and re-weaving the relationship with and between minors, in the territories of Naples and Rome most affected by early school leaving – specifically the neighborhoods of Ponticelli, Barra and San Giovanni in Naples, and the districts of San Basilio and Torpignattara in Rome – with a focus on pre-existing marginalization bands and subject to multiple discrimination. “YOUTH INCLUSIONS” sees Amref Health Africa as leader, and as partner Maestri di Strada (Naples), and CEMEA del Mezzogiorno (Rome).

This will be done through workshops and participatory activities with young people aged between 11 and 17 from Rome and Naples. It will start on Wednesday 26 May in Rome and Thursday 27 May in Naples with the Health Literacy program organized by Amref. The objective of these meetings will be to strengthen the path of youth empowerment and community commitment initiated in the two cities by the partners, broadening the gaze of young people towards other paths of youth leadership in contexts with educational, social and health needs different from them and recognizing diversity as an added value of personal growth and equity as a right for everyone, up to the point of thinking abouthow to take steps to become health promoters of your community.

Through a path of three meetings in Naples and three meetings in Rome, coordinated by Amref, young people will be able to meet and converse with Amref health experts, social and health operators of the local services of their city and with a young African activist promoter of community health. The first meeting, on May 26th, will be held in Rome, at the CEMEA del Mezzogiorno space between 4 pm and 7 pm, and in Naples, on May 27th between 3 pm and 6 pm, at Maestri di Strada.

In the months of June and July, CEMEA del Mezzogiorno will launch in Rome the organization of playful and educational relational outdoor activities such as music, artistic workshops, juggling, summer camps, while in Naples, Street Masters will start, starting from the month of June, a real community site with a group of young people between 11 and 17 years old, for the recovery and regeneration of abandoned spaces. With this goal in mind, artistic and educational activities will be carried out. Among these, at the CUBO space (Cantiere UrBanO for educational transformations) in the Ponticelli district, educators and children will give life to the educational and participatory game “Cubotto”, which, through art-educational challenges, will enable youngsters to be activated in the recovery of spaces and places for personal and social growth. The game will be made on a human scale by August 2021. The project is realized with the contribution of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for family policies.
