Amref yapunguza wenye VVU wanaopotea kwenye matibabu Simiyu

Shirika la Amref Health Africa limesema kuwa kupitia mradi wake wa Afya Kamilifu ambao unatekelezwa katika mikoa ya Simiyu, Tanga pamoja na Zanzibar limefanikiwa kupunguza idadi kubwa ya watu ambao wanaishi na VVU kupotea katika matibabu.

Kwa Mkoa wa Simiyu, Shirika hilo limeeleza kuwa katika halmashauri ya mji wa Bariadi kwa kushirikiana na serikali wamefanikiwa kupunguza kiwango cha wenye VVU wanaopotea kwenye matatibabu kutoka 472 hadi 146 kwa kipindi cha miezi sita ndani ya mwaka huu.

Hayo yamesemwa leo na Mkurugenzi wa mradi huo, Dk. Edwine Kilimba kutoka Amref wakati akiwasilisha taarifa ya kazi zinazotekelezwa na Shirika hilo chini ya Mradi huo kwenye kikao kilichowakutanisha wadau wa sekta ya Afya mkoa wa Simiyu.

Dk. Kilimba amesema kuwa licha ya jitihada hizo za kupunguza watu wanaopotea, bado changamoto ipo ya baadhi ya wenye VVU kutoweka katika matibabu huku akieleza kuwa sababu kubwa ni kushindwa kutimiza wajibu kwa baadhi ya watumishi wa Afya.

Amesema kuwa kupitia mradi huo, Amref imelenga kufikia asilimia 95 ya watu wenye VVU wanajitambua kwa kupima, kufikia asilimia 95 ya waliojitambua kuwa kwenye dawa, pamoja na kufikia asilimia 95 wanaotumia dawa waweze kufubaza Virusi.

Aidha, amesema kuwa toka mwezi Oktaba 2020 hadi Machi 2021, wameongeza kiwango cha upimaji kwa watoto wadogo kutoka asilimia 39 hadi asilimia 86 mpaka sasa huku kiwango cha wenye VVU kufubaza virusi kikiongezeka.

“Katika eneo la kufubuza virusi kwa wenye maambukizi, tumefanikiwa kwa kiwango kikubwa, kwani kwenye maeneo yote ambayo mradi upo, Simiyu, Tanga, Zanzibar, wenye VVU wamepunguza kiwango cha kuambukiza (kufubaza virusi) kwa asilimia 90,” amesema Dk. Kilimba.

Awali, akizungumzia hali ya huduma za Afya Mkoani humo, mganga Mkuu wa Mkoa, Dk. Boniphace Marwa amesema mkoa umeendelea kupunguza vifo vya akina mama wajawazito na watoto wadogo.

Dk. Marwa ameeleza kuwa vifo ambavyo vimeendelea kutokea, vinasababishwa kwa kiwango kikubwa na uzembe wa watumishi kutokana na kushindwa kutimiza wajibu wao ipasavyo.

Akifunga kikao hicho Mkuu wa mkoa huo, David Kafulila amezita kamati za Afya za wilaya kuhakikisha zinatekeleza wajibu wao ipasavyo kwa kuhakikisha huduma za Afya zinatolewa kikamilifu kwa wananchi.
