Amref launches fundraiser to increase access to healthcare

Amref Health Africa has initiated a fundraiser through cycling dubbed ‘Africa Classic’ in Kilimanjaro Region to support the organization’s mission to increase access to healthcare by increasing human resources for health and investment in key areas in the sector.

Speaking during the launch of the event at Kia Lodge, Kilimanjaro Regional Medical Officer, Dr Jairy Khanga, thanked the cyclists for their sacrifice and generosity in travelling all the way to Tanzania to help improve the health of the Tanzanian people.

“I would like to assure you that the government of Tanzania will continue to support this important initiative by working closely with Amref Health Africa. We appreciate and recognize the good working relationship and synergy between the government and Amref Health Africa,” said Dr Khanga

Speaking on behalf of Amref Health Africa – Tanzania Country Director, Dr Florence Temu, Acting Country Director, Gaspar Jonah, expressed his gratitude to the group of cyclists who attended the 400km fundraiser bike ride campaign which he said will impact the lives of many especially women and children in Tanzania.

He also extended gratitude to authorities in Kilimanjaro Region for their commitment and support to ensure the programme takes place.

In his address, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amref Tanzania Anthony Chamungwana thanked the people of Netherlands and Amref Health Africa – Netherlands for their constant commitment to addressing and supporting various health initiatives in Africa through impactful projects and events which mobilize funds for health care solutions.
