Amref Wins IPRA Golden World Award for Excellence (GWA)

Amref Health Africa has been awarded the prestigious International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Award for Excellence (GWA) in the NGO category for its exceptional PR and messaging framework behind the successful Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC) 2025. This victory, part of a record 98 winners for 2025, recognises Amref’s ability to navigate multiple crises, including the Mpox outbreak, the Marburg virus emergency, and geopolitical tensions, while delivering the largest and most impactful AHAIC to date.

Despite facing significant challenges, including travel safety concerns and a strained global health financing environment, Amref’s strategic crisis communications and adaptive marketing efforts ensured AHAIC 2025’s success. The conference attracted over 7,000 participants from 60+ countries across more than 50 partner-led sessions tackling Africa’s most urgent health priorities. The conference generated significant media attention, with 150+ articles reaching 18.1 million people through earned media. On social media, the campaign achieved over 11.5K engagements and 2,600+ organic posts, contributing to a total reach of approximately 64 million.

The award not only celebrates the success of AHAIC 2025 but also underscores Amref’s leadership in driving Africa’s health transformation. This recognition comes just weeks after Amref was honoured at the Cannes Lions 2025 for the “Flags of Unity” creative concept. These accolades solidify AHAIC as a premier platform for collaboration and innovation in the global health landscape.
