The Youth Festival 2023 – “Be Inspired, Own Your Future” to celebrate, connect, and empower Ethiopian youth will take place on April 29 and 30, 2023 at Millennium Hall, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Addis Ababa, April 06, 2023 – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s youth activity Kefeta is organizing the Youth Festival – “Be Inspired, Own Your Future Youth Festival” on April 29 & 30, 2023 at Addis Ababa’s Millenium Hall.

Amref Health Africa, the lead partner of the Integrated Youth Activity, brings this exciting two-day festival, where youth will interface with policymakers, successful and prominent personalities and young entrepreneurs and business people. Skills-building boot camps on technology, business and entrepreneurship, communications and youth health well-being activities will empower youth. The festival will also feature an artist’s gallery, a tech village, a market fair, sports, games, and a talent show featuring young performers from various Ethiopian cities.

Renowned musicians, including Rophnan, Veronica Adane, Nina Girma, Jambo Jottee, Asege Dendesho, and Mesfin Birhane, will perform on both evenings of the two-day festival. Comedy Nights featuring comedians Zedo, Dereje, Filfilu, Beki 4 kilo, and Muaz Jemal are also in the lineup to entertain youth, complementing to the two full day youth-centred activities.

The Youth Festival is part of the USAID/Integrated Youth Activity-Kefeta, launched in March 2022 to elevate millions of youth across Ethiopia. This five-year initiative will help youth in 18 cities find meaningful economic and social opportunities, and ensure better access to essential youth friendly services.

Amref is leading the planning and organization of the festival in collaboration with its consortium partners, Miella Events, The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs (MoWSA), the Addis Ababa City Administration, development partners, and the private sector.

This festival is the third iteration following two regional festivals held in Hawassa on December 31, 2022, and Bahir Dar on March 18, 2023, which engaged more than 5,000 youth in peace forums, intergenerational dialogues, arts and cultural offerings, sports and games, and job fairs. These festivals have inspired youth to positively contribute to their communities.
