Escape the Neglect: Eliminating NTDs in a Changing World

Date: Wednesday, August 13, 2025 || 8:00 AM ET | 4:00 PM EAT

Hosted by: Amref Health Africa, With support from the Gates Foundation

Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) continue to affect millions across Africa, despite remarkable progress driven by the Kigali Declaration and growing regional momentum. Nearly half of WHO’s NTD elimination validations between 2022 and 2024 occurred on the continent, an extraordinary milestone.

Yet, that progress now faces new threats. Foreign aid cuts, shifting domestic priorities, and strained health systems are disrupting treatment delivery and surveillance. It’s time to act boldly and collectively.

Join Amref Health Africa and leading voices in global health for this high-level virtual forum as we explore how African countries can safeguard and accelerate NTD progress through programme integration, pooled financing, and greater domestic leadership.

This session will:

  • Highlight new opportunities for integrating NTD efforts into broader health systems
  • Share innovations in co-financing and sustainable models for elimination
  • Showcase country leadership and momentum as we prepare for the WHO AFRO Regional Meetings

Register now to be part of this critical dialogue shaping the future of NTD elimination in Africa.
