Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): A Global Health Threat AMR is one of the most urgent public health challenges, threatening to undo decades of progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage by 2030. It’s time to take action before it’s too late!

Did You Know? Misuse of Antibiotics Fuels Drug Resistance Misusing antibiotics in humans, animals, and plants is causing the rise of drug-resistant pathogens. This makes infections harder and costlier to treat. Let’s use antibiotics responsibly!

A Growing Global Threat: AMR doesn’t just prolong illness—it speeds up the spread of diseases across borders. The time to act is now! Join the fight against this silent pandemic.

Addressing the AMR Crisis in Africa Low public awareness, poor treatment adherence, and limited access to quality medicines are fueling the AMR crisis across Africa. Let’s prioritise education and equitable healthcare access.

The Silent Killer Every year, antimicrobial resistance claims 1.27 million lives directly and contributes to an additional 5 million deaths globally. We need urgent action to stop this deadly trend.

AMR in Sub-Saharan Africa: A Looming Crisis - Sub-Saharan Africa faces the highest burden of AMR-related deaths. Without immediate intervention, the region could face 10 million deaths annually by 2050. Act now to protect future generations!

To tackle AMR – the “silent pandemic” – we must strengthen communication, education, and training using the One Health approach. Together, we can make a difference!

Time to Prioritise Health Financing for Climate Action: Despite the devastating impacts of climate change on health systems, health financing remains sidelined at global forums. It’s time to prioritise equitable health funding!

The Global South is most affected by climate change but is underrepresented in key decisions. Let’s make sure their voices are heard and their needs prioritised!

Health and Climate: An Inseparable Pair - Climate disasters push fragile health systems to the brink, especially in developing nations. We need climate financing that recognises the direct link between health and climate.

The Global South contributes the least to emissions yet suffers the most from climate change. It’s time for political commitments that prioritise health and climate justice!

Without inclusive global governance, the Global South will remain sidelined in climate decisions. Let’s push for climate finance that prioritises their needs!

Setting the Stage for Climate Action: #AmrefAtUNGA79 will pave the way for COP29 and COP30, uniting a global health voice to ensure health is a key priority in climate negotiations.

Call to Action: We urge political leaders at UNGA79 to commit to financing and tools that will deliver climate finance for resilient health systems. The time to act is now! #AmrefAtUNGA79

Equitable Financing Models for the Global South: At #AmrefAtUNGA79, we’ll amplify the Global South’s voice on just and equitable financing models to ensure investments reach the communities most in need.

Pushing for an Accountable Climate Finance Goal: #AmrefAtUNGA79 will create a platform to advocate for a New Collective Quantified Goal on Climate Finance, with health at its core. Let’s push for accountability and needs-based solutions!

Embedding One Health in Climate Commitments: Countries in the Global South must adopt the One Health approach in their climate plans to secure the resources needed for health and climate resilience. Let’s make this a global priority!
