The paintwork begins!

by Amref Health Africa

February 8, 2017 was a wonderful day for residents of Kibera, Nairobi County. This warm sunny day marked the launch of the re-painting of the Amref Kibera Clinic!

This is through a partnership between Takeda Pharmaceuticals and Amref Health Africa that saw representatives from Takeda re-painting part of the clinic, in anticipation of the full paint work to commence in the coming week.

The Takeda team also met Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) in Kibera who explained to them their role in the community and how they assist household members with hypertension and diabetes. As a result of the partnership with Takeda, one hundred and fifty CHVs from Nairobi, Makueni and Kajiado counties are being trained on Hypertension and Diabetes through Leap the mHealth platform. The partnership also seeks to enhance access to hypertension and diabetes medication for community members in these sites.
