Dodoma, Tanzania, 28 July 2025: Amref Health Africa in Tanzania has received a generous donation of TZS 100 million (approximately USD 38,500) from NBC Bank during the recently held NBC Marathon in Dodoma. The funds will support autism-focused health interventions, specifically the training of healthcare providers in Amref-supported regions across Tanzania.
The NBC Marathon brought together hundreds of participants from across the country, providing a platform not only to promote physical wellbeing but also to drive social impact through inclusive health programming.
The donation will enable Amref to strengthen frontline health services by equipping healthcare workers with the skills needed to identify, manage, and support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This aligns with Amref’s mission to deliver equitable, inclusive, and community-led healthcare solutions, leaving no one behind.
Speaking at the event, Dr Florence Temu, Country Director, Amref Health Africa in Tanzania, commended NBC Bank’s ongoing partnership and commitment:
“This support from NBC is a milestone in our efforts to strengthen autism care in Tanzania. Training health workers is a critical step toward early diagnosis and comprehensive care for children with autism,” said Dr Temu. “We commend NBC for its continued investment in the health and dignity of our communities.”
NBC Bank’s contribution underscores its broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and improving the lives of vulnerable groups through strategic partnerships in health and development.
Amref Health Africa in Tanzania remains dedicated to working alongside the Government, civil society organisations, and the private sector to ensure no child is left behind, especially those living with autism and other developmental challenges.
